Runway uses the gestures, attitude and walking gates of runway models performed by a cast of three woman – (soloist and back-up). Playful quality in the construction of movements and the elegant dress-up costuming are elements in the set-up of presentation of an older woman personifying and trying on this iconic sexual identity. Often the movements seem perfect until perhaps a profile shows a round tummy or double chin or a facial expression that drops it’s smile. Humor and poignancy is found in the integrity and humanness of the characters as the women are exposed behind the facade.
