Melanie Greene and Brianna Taylor will present Taming the Amazon, a movement conversation about female politics, power, race, and history. The work is big and badass, not to mention thoughtfully modest. It is a collision of fairy tales, chanting sheroes, and talking tarts.

Melanie Greene + Brianna Taylor are movement based mess-makers, curators, and provocateurs. Together they create work that tackles female escapades and empowerment. Melanie Greene is a 2017 Bessie Recipient for Outstanding Performance with Skeleton Architecture, and has presented solo and group work at Dixon Place, Movement Research at Judson Church, BAX/Brooklyn Arts Exchange, New York Live Arts, and BAAD. Brianna Taylor, a space changer and world traveler, has presented work around NYC at Hatch/The Works, BAX/Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Movement Research Open Performance, Greenspace, and Triskelion, as well as around the San Francisco Bay area; Greensboro, NC; Boulder, CO; Portland, OR; Washington, DC; Paris, France; and Lausanne, Switzerland. She dances with Rachel Thorne-Germond and Rebecca Lloyd Jones in NYC, and is a former company member of Onye Ozuzu’s Skeleton Dance Project. She is also a member of the multi-media experimental performance ensemble COLLAPSS based in Greensboro, NC. Taylor taught as an adjunct at several NC universities and currently teaches dance and yoga around NYC.
