Sasha Amaya and Paloma Ayala
Zala Moves, a series of animations by Paloma Ayala, was inspired by movement that Sasha Amaya created in response to spatial contexts found throughout Lendava, Slovenia. Movement is interpreted into stillness, then manufactured into animations.
Sasha Amaya (Canadian) studied at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School before experimenting with contemporary movement, choreography, and directing. Her work has shown on stage, in galleries, in videos, and alongside live chamber music.
Paloma Ayala (Mexican) is a multifaceted visual artist who often works with performance artists from all over the world. She has exhibited in Mexico, US, Canada, Switzerland, Germany, and Slovenia. Paloma currently lives in Switzerland, works for different art and community-oriented projects, and develops her own body of artworks. The series of short animations Zala Moves was developed in collaboration by Amaya and Ayala in Slovenia, May 2013.
