NoraGibsonPhoto Nora Gibson is a Philadelphia based dancer and choreographer whose training spans classical ballet to post-modern improvisation. Early training includes Baltimore School for the Arts, ballet residencies with Jean-Pierre Bonnefous of NYCB, and the Chautauqua. She received a BFA from the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU where she performed in works by artists such as Elisa Monte and Mark Morris. Gibson studied improvisational forms with Daniel Lepkoff, Andrew Harwood, Nancy Stark-Smith, and KJ Holmes. She has had the privilege of dancing for PATH Dance Company in Baltimore, MD under the direction of Kathy Wildberger, and for Andrew Marcus in New York, NY. She currently dances for ClancyWorks Dance Company in Washington D.C., and with Jeffrey Gunshol, formerly of Mark Dendy Dance. Gibson has performed her own work throughout Philadelphia and in NYC at various downtown venues such as P.S. 122, St. Marks Church, and DIA Center for the Arts. In 2008, she established Nora Gibson Performance Project with Philadelphia as its home base. NGPP was an Artist in Residence at Mascher Arts Space Co-op from October 2008 to March 2009. Recently, NGPP was awarded a 2009-10 Artist in Residence with the nEW Festival in Philadelphia under the direction of Melanie Stewart, and has further been awarded the CEC New Edge Residency for 2009-10.
