Johanna S. Meyer is a choreographer, performer and teacher based in Brooklyn, NY. Since 1993 she has created more than a dozen dance and performance works, which often incorporate props, character and video. Her work has been presented extensively in New York, as well as in Minneapolis, San Diego, Santa Barbara and Philadelphia. She has been awarded residencies and commissions from Movement Research, LMCC, Earthdance and White Oak/The Field, and Dixon Place.

Meyer has also contributed choreography for several experimental theater and film directors, including Richard Maxwell, Marie Loisier, Robert Cucuzza Tory Vazquez, and DJ Mendel. She has taught movement for actors, improvisation and anatomy at the UC Santa Barbara Theater Lab, Williamstown Theater Festival, Alvin Ailey School, Earthdance and Hunter College.

She has performed in the work of many choreographers and directors, including Ken Nintzel, Tory Vazquez, Richard Maxwell, Reginald Wilson/Fist and Heel, Stephanie Skura, Nina Martin and Nami Yamamoto. She is currently co-directing a new dance work with Morgan Thorson at Barnard College, and creating her third evening-length piece, Stroll to be peformed at The Southern Theater in Minneapolis, MN in July 2010.
