It was a pleasure and an honor to be part of Performance Mix Festivals #31 (Infinite Corridor) and #36 (Meeting the Moai: Head Over Heels.) In both instances, the artists were made to feel welcomed and truly celebrated for their work, as reflected by attention to publicity, technical needs, and convivial gatherings. This festival truly practices diversity, equity, and inclusion, as manifested in their roster of performing artists each year. Big thanks to New Dance Alliance, Karen Bernard, and the entire Performance Mix Festival team who make it such a fulfilling and joyful experience for artists and audiences alike.

New Dance Alliance’s Performance Mix Festival presents the work of over 20 artists annually in contexts ranging from traditional venues to site-specific installations to open-rehearsals to video screenings to artist talks. The Performance Mix Festival offers a wide range of avenues for audiences to engage in explorations in dance, video and interdisciplinary performance.
The Festival offers many benefits, in addition to the full week of events, for participating artists:
- Marketing: Through advanced selection and planning, NDA is able to promote artists for six months in advance of their New York performances via the NDA website; social media; and e-blasts to the press, presenters and benefactors. NDA’s website features artists’ photo, biographies, festival schedule and Video Featurettes.
- Performance Development: Prior to the Festival artists are offered free rehearsal space. These rehearsals occur at NDA’s studio in Tribeca.
- Festival Networking: The Breakfast Mix provides an opportunity for artist to artist and the public to share in the process of their work. Performance Mix Artists can propose a workshop to follow the Breakfast Mix in their application.
- Documentation: Festival artists receive complimentary professional-level video documentation of their New York performances.
