I’m really glad that Performance Mix #34: Remotely Yours turned out to be so productive for me. I was able to wrap my head around the ideas that were all circling in my head.
Jill Hockett broke her elbow on April 15th, 2014, dashing her original plans for her Performance Mix piece. Instead she presents The Best Time I Broke My Arm a humorous exploration of trauma, recovery, boredom, narcotics, and endless hours of Netflix. Hockett is a Brooklyn-based emerging dance artist. She’s choreographed and performed her own work at La MaMa E.T.C. and the Tank, and choreographed a video for The Whitest Kids U’ Know on the Independent Film Channel. Hockett can usually be found at the Tank, where as dance curator she created the unique xyz nyc series as well as the (kin)aesthetics series. Hockett has a BA in Theater and Dance from Trinity College and attended the Trinity/La MaMa program.
