Tatiana Desardouin & K’niin Abbrey / Passion Fruit Dance Company

Tatiana Desardouin, a Swiss artist of Haitian origin, is a multifaceted creative whose work spans dance, education, choreography, cultural organizing and craftsmanship. A professional dancer, instructor, consultant, choreographer, organizer, curator, lecturer, and a jewelry maker, she holds a Master’s in Adult Education and a bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Geneva. She is regularly invited to teach and judge internationally, including in Japan, Peru, Italy, Sweden, Slovakia, France, Canada, Austria, Switzerland, and beyond.

A devoted contributor to the international street and club dance scene, Tatiana has been teaching and mentoring since 2005. She founded the dance school “Le Centre Hip-Hop”, co-founded Geneva’s first hip-hop dance company “Continuum”, and has been an active member of the cultural nonprofit “JAIA” since 2012. She created her own teaching approach, “Technique Within Your Groove” and has taught at Broadway Dance Center, EXPG NYC, and currently teaches at Modega and Peridance. Her academic teaching includes guest artist and adjunct roles at Harvard University, Dartmouth, American University, Connecticut College, the Five Colleges, Springfield College, Queensborough Community College, and 92NY.

Tatiana is the founder, director, and choreographer of Passion Fruit Dance Company, established in 2016. Through performances, workshops, lectures, educational programs, and cultural events, the company uplifts the authenticity and Black heritage of street and club dance while exploring human experiences and social issues. Passion Fruit has performed at major institutions such as the American Dance Festival, BRIC!, The Apollo Theater, SummerStage, Jacob’s Pillow, New Victory Theater, the Guggenheim, Lincoln Center, Mass MoCA, and more.

Her recognitions include Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch” (2020), the 2022 Vilcek Foundation Prize for Creative Promise, and the 2022 juried Bessie Award.

K’niin “TPM” Abbrey is a multidisciplinary performance artist specializing in street dance forms, digital arts and music production. His expertise lies in emphasizing musical aural skills and applying meditative approaches to enhance creativity and self-awareness. Between his nomadic upbringing and Creole cultural background, Abbrey has developed a rich understanding of “mixing”. He Uses this unique perspective to inform conversation or flow between seemingly contrasting elements; Leveraging his deep knowledge of street dance forms, he seamlessly weaves together a colorful blend of explorations that tap into all the senses. Abbrey’s passion extends worldwide as he travels extensively, both to compete and teach his movement techniques within Street Dance communities and theatre spaces alike. Within the Hip Hop competitive circuit, Abbrey has been recognized globally; Taking part in renowned international competitions such as Summer Dance Forever, Freestyle Session, Jack of all Trades(JOAT) to name a few.

Back home in the States, K’niin builds as a collaborator with renowned companies such as “UniverSoul Hip Hop.” Serving as an Artistic Director, contributing to visually create dance education programs in academic and community settings. Additionally, he has lent his performance abilities to acclaimed Productions such as the Emmy Award Winning “Hip Hop Nutcracker,” Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre, Rennie Harris Pure Movement, The Groovaloos, among others.
