David Garland is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, singer, illustrator, graphic designer, and journalist. His eclectic radio show Spinning on Air was heard on WNYC FM in New York City from 1987 to 2015. He has recorded his music with Christian Marclay, John Zorn, Ikue Mori, Sufjan Stevens, Sean Lennon, Guy Klucevsek, Michael Gira, Vashti Bunyan, and Meredith Monk, among others. His albums range from Control Songs (1987) to Conversations With the Cinnamon Skeleton (2012), with new music coming in 2016. Garland plays a 12-string guitar specially modified by his son Kenji Garland.
