Damn Your Eyes, created and performed by Karen Bernard in 1996, and performed now by Jil Guyon, comprises a series of precise, provocative movements through which the performer reflects upon her half-naked body and self-image. It’s “a short, lean construction of linked images – as if a mild earthquake had jolted a statue into motion” (Deborah Jowitt, The Village Voice). Featured in EDGY NYC + MTL.

Karen Bernard is a solo creator and performer.  She teaches, lectures, and serves on advisory panels across the U.S., Canada, and Europe. She is a Bogliasco Fellow, Movement Research Artist in Residence, and BAX 10 awardee for her invaluable service to artists in the founding and development of the Performance Mix Festival, now in its 30th year. Bernard is also a cofounder of E|MERGE Interdisciplinary Collaborative Residency at Earthdance. In 2016 she will participate in two residencies, Dance in Progress at The Kitchen, culminating in two performances May 6 and 7, and a residency at the Emily Harvey Foundation in Venice, Italy.
