Nathalie Claude is a performer, director, writer, MC, clown, dramaturg, and artistic coach. Channeling a shamanic and clowning energy, she transforms little things into emotional mountains, creating unconventional characters with surreal destinies. Her creations include site-specific works for a cemetery and a convent, as well as six solos on sadness and madness, including Le Salon Automate (2008), a piece for one actress and three automatons which toured Québec and was presented by Toronto’s Buddies in Bad Times Theatre. As a guest artist, she co-designed the largest-ever John William Waterhouse retrospective exhibit for the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (2009), and directed the Gertrude Stein opera Doctor Faustus Lights the Lights for Concordia University’s Theatre Department (2010). Nathalie Claude recently performed at the Phenomena festival (2015) with a solo/exorcism of the past three years on tour as a male clown with the Cirque du Soleil show Amaluna.
