Embarking on a new chapter of her decades-long exploration of feminine identity, Karen Bernard’s solo Ouette is laden with added meaning through an exploration of digital media. A video camera and laptop computer disseminate personal narrative during a solitary residency abroad in an instantaneous feedback loop with her extended community by way of Facebook. With this technology, the artist is liberated to truly go “Solo,” providing her own sound, camera and lighting crew during a live performance that intersects with projection.
