The 36th annual PERFORMANCE MIX FESTIVAL was held earlier this month at Abrons Arts Center, as part of the @Abrons Series. “All in all, a thoroughly entertaining night at a performance festival whose work feels necessary, not only for an audience but also for the development of the presenting artists.” (Noah Witke Mele, Eye on Dance). This four-day festival featured 12 shows and work from more than 35 New York-based and international artists. Learn more →

This past winter, BLACK ARTISTS SPACE TO CREATE RESIDENCY artists Ama Ma’at GoraKayla Hamilton, and Nile Harris received a one-week residency at Modern Accord Depot in Accord, NY, unlimited rehearsal space at the NDA studio, and a stipend of $2,000. “We wish to radically reimagine what it means to serve Black artists and to do so in the specific spirit of reparations,” (Board Chair, Fernando Maneca quoted in The New York Times). Ama Ma’at Gora and Kayla Hamilton were also featured in this year’s Performance Mix Festival. Learn more →

In fall, the LIFTOFF RESIDENCY provided three artists, Nicholas AlselmoMia Martelli, and x with 36 hours of complimentary studio space and monthly Work Sessions sharing feedback on their developing work. All three artists were subsequently featured in Performance Mix Festival: 36.
