This year, we face changes across the nation that are having impact around the world. In a small loft in Tribeca, we are considering why we do what we do and why it matters.
Here are some of the reasons we have come up with:
- All voices need to be heard—the alternative and the new, those pushing boundaries and defining fresh genres and those who have made a difference historically.
- Art allows us to see things in new contexts.
- Experimentation and collaboration support greater understanding.
- A single voice can provide inspiration for others.

Applications are now being accepted for the 32nd Annual Performance Mix Festival, to be held June 7-10, 2018 at University Settlement.
Performance Mix Festival presents physically-based, experimental performance. For short works programming, works should not be more than 15 minutes long. Longer works will be considered, but programming space is limited. Artists receive a fee, complimentary video documentation, and rehearsal space.
The application deadline is one week from today:
Thursday, November 2, 2017.
Previous Performance Mix Festival artists should wait one year before reapplying.

About LiftOff
Fall/Winter and Winter/Spring workshops strive to create a safe and intimate space to receive feedback that supports the aesthetics of seasoned artists and explore resources to enable development. The group meets weekly for a three-hour session for 10 weeks with feedback facilitated by NDA director Karen Bernard.
During the workshop three guests from the industry are invited to participate in the feedback process. Past guests have included Mathew Lyons, Curator, The Kitchen; Yvonne Meier, Choreographer; Kathy Kaufmann, Lighting Designer; Anya Liftig, Performance Artist; Yve Laris Cohen, Performance and Multidiscipline Artist; Moirah Evans, Choreographer; Craig Peterson, Dance Curator, Abrons Arts Center; Shelley Hirsch, Singer and Composer; among others.
NDA’s studio is located at 182 Duane Street in the heart of Tribeca.
All venues are wheelchair accessible.
