Shannon Yu 余香儒 (Sha) is a Brooklyn, New York based artist from Taiwan. Sha holds an MFA in Performance and Performance Studies from Pratt Institute, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from National Taiwan University.
Sha practices Breaking, Hip hop, Contemporary floorwork, and Wing Tsun Martial Arts; space, sound, movement, texture and imagery interest sha and call for sha to make art that inspires, that speaks Shannon’s truth. Shannon identifies as a multi-disciplinary artist, dancer-choreographer, queer creator. Sha is the founder and creative director of SHA Creative Outlet. Shannon has shown work in Abrons Arts Center, La Mama, Judson Memorial Church, Triskelion Arts. The Landmark Loew’s Theater, and has done residencies with the Center at West Park, Dance in Bushwick, Spoke the Hub, and Chen Dance Center; and took part in festivals such as Performance Mix Festival, the Evolution Festival, and Your Moves Dance Festival.
