As a visually impaired, Costa Rican-American choreographer of Miskito and Garifuna heritage, Christopher “Unpezverde” Núñez creates evocative work on themes of disability, immigration, and indigeneity. His career includes a BESSIE Award nomination and a spot on Art in America’s “New Talent” list. His work has been recognized and supported by numerous fellowships, grants and residencies, and presented by major institutions such as Performance Mix Festival, The Kitchen, Jacob’s Pillow, Danspace Project, Movement Research at the Judson Church, the Leslie-Lohman Museum, Princeton University, The Joyce Theater, The Immigrant Artist Biennale-Brooklyn Museum, and The Lincoln Center, among others.
Cadaver Dog deals with the relentless search for something lost, hidden, or dead within our body as a living geopolitical state and the haunted nature of our own mortality.
“I am honored to have performed at the Performance Mix 37…PMF plays a very inspiring, influential, and unique role in redefining the role of theater and performance art in society. I hope we continue to think about how this festival means so much not only for dance fans/ students, but for art lovers and the general public.”
