Rebecca Patek was a New York-based choreographer and performance artist (2009–2016) who created a body of work that synthesized dance, theater, and comedy. In 2015 she was called “a prostitute” by the New York Times, and her work Ineter(a)nal F/ear was named one of the top ten performances of 2013 by Time Out New York. She received the People’s Choice award at ImPulsTanz, which is the only prize given out through public voting (as well as the only prize which doesn’t come with an actual prize). Her live work was censored by MoMA PS1 after its initial commission. Social commentary and institutional critique were the main focus of her body of work, which ultimately led to its subsequent censorship and the impossibility of its existence.
