Lisa Parra is a NY based choreographer. She is interested in the construction and reconstruction of body image, identity and the effects that ritual, culture and language have on movement and its transformation within dialogues. Her work has been presented in New York at New Dance Alliance, Movement Research Judson Series, and Center for Performance Research. In addition, she has received support from the Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center in Troy, NY, Alkantara in Lisbon, the Center for Arts and Architecture in Guimarães, Media-Lab Prado in Madrid, and Bilbao Eszena in Bilbao.
Daniel Pinheiro is a Portuguese based in Porto, Portugal. His work explores forms of performativity within the digital realm, its possible translations and implications. Daniel is interested in the concept of Telematic Art, using video as a tool and the internet as a platform, merging both languages into a single object of expression. His aim is to express the impact of technology on everyday life, the environment, and of the Internet as a reflection of a world where the abstract nature of transmedia movement changes the notions of space, presence, privacy and identity.
LAND Project (live and virtual performance)
Lisa Parra and Daniel Pinheiro began their collaboration in 2013, exploring possibilities for “moving” together at a distance using video-conferencing as a means to establish a shared space for intervention. Their research has developed in different formats of execution that mainly focus on a shared sense of presence. For LAND Project, they will connect remotely to construct a shared space using João Fiadeiro’s real-time composition practice. Parra will perform live in New York. Pinheiro will join via livestream from Porto, Portugal. The actions transform the space where the invisible and visible presence of the other creates a togetherness stream of consciousness.

Since my friend, Chivas Sandage brought me to New Dance Alliance to rehearse in early 90’s, the place has become a part of my creative life. The long time existence of the studio and Performance Mix Festival are vital to the artists who seek and explore deep into their process. Whenever I step into the studio, it’s a new space with a lot of memories. I lie down on the floor, listen to my body, and I dance. It is valuable. The time in the space nurtures my practice and artistic vision. Karen’s vision of Lift-Off residency, feedback sessions, providing peer to peer connections are more significant than ever. It has been helping us to get through 2020 and we are going into 2021.”
