Yvonne Meier
Yvonne Meier, originally from Zurich, Switzerland has lived and worked in NYC since 1979. For her work, spanning from big spectacles to quiet solos she has received 3 Bessie awards. The American Master Piece program has supported a recreation for her piece “The Shining. She has twice been supported by Movement Research’s Artist-in- Residence program.
Meier has been teaching Releasing Technique, Authentic Movement and Scores through MR for the past 30 years. Meier also has been teaching children’s dance classes in NY Public Schools through Movement Research’s Dance Makers program.
Multiple Bessie Award-winning artist Yvonne Meier brings her latest work to the festival. Subtlety, and in persuasion of Meier’s own rhythm, the work will be interrupted by bold explosions. Flow will get interrupted by the playful fulfillment of some COVID created movement Phantasiewelt. Music by Zeena Parkins and Ikue Mori
