Koros/Agora de la danse

Hélène Blackburn Over the years, Cas Public has succeeded in establishing itself as a Canadian company with an international reputation. However, the company remains rooted in the cultural reality of Quebec, where it multiplies its efforts to promote contemporary dance to the public and contribute to its development. While continuing to create for the general public, Cas Public has been venturing into the field of children’s shows since 2001, with Nous n’irons plus au bois, a work that has now been performed over 300 times. Barbe Bleue, Journal Intime, Variations S, 9 and its successor works for young audiences have been presented in festivals and renowned venues around the world, from Chicoutimi to Madrid, including the Opéra Bastille in Paris and the Opéra de Bordeaux.

Andrea Peña & Artists is known for creating critical, alternative and spatial universes that break with our notions and understanding of sentient humanity. Interested in the depth of individuality, a theme that stems from Peña’s bi-cultural background, her approach is known for choreographies rich in vulnerability, complexity, and somatic physicality, which extend beyond mere movement through conceptual research. With a background in industrial design, her works borrow from visual arts practices and spatial qualities, questioning the body as a material that exists in relation to time and space.

There will also be a presentation by Agora de la danse/Koros and four VR headsets will be available for attendees to experience two dance pieces by Hélène Blackburn and Andrea Peña.
