Join Elena Lev, circus artist and performer in ‘Looper’ for an introduction to her unique approach to hoop manipulation. This free workshop is for adult dancers and movers who are interested in exploring the basics of Lev’s technique. Participants will learn how to turn the hoop on their hands and body: a precise, playful and meditative challenge. Please wear comfortable, close-fitting clothes to move in (socks and leggings are ideal). Hoops will be provided.
Admission to both events is free, but space is limited. An RSVP is mandatory for both events. Please email admin@newdancealliance.org to reserve your place for either or both events.

Performance Mix Festival Vision
New Dance Alliance views the function of supporting experimental performance works as carrying forward a distinct heritage of art in America. From Isadora Duncan and her shoeless dances to John Cage and his amplified toasters to Jennifer Monson and her migration projects, American artists have been privileged in their Constitutional right to defy conventions. NDA continues this American legacy by making an explicit commitment to equity and inclusion and creating programs that center the work of artists from historically marginalized communities of color, LGBTQ artists, and artists with disabilities. As testimony to its efforts, NDA claims a roster of over 1,000 artists who have pioneered new methods in artistic creation. These artists have distinct voices within shared genres and have often gone on to become award-winning leaders in the field.
The festival has grown to include artists from around the globe, including South Africa, Canada, Europe, and South America.
By holding annual Performance Mix Festivals, NDA brings together artists of diverse backgrounds and aesthetics to connect with the downtown art scene, year after year. Our community continues to expand, encompassing an ever-widening perspective of the artistic experience!
Any contribution helps keep us going! Thank you for your continued support.

“Thank you thank you and thank you to everyone who made this residency (Black Artist Space to Create) possible. These past two weeks have been a blessing! Not only have I been able to deepen my own personal/artistic practices, I was given the space to connect with people that I love! I was given space to reflect on love, and to prepare for what this next year (2021) will bring! Shout out to New Dance Alliance, Modern Accord Depot and Angie Pittman for the time, the space, and opportunity! I am forever grateful! It felt like a good meal, with dessert!”
