The LiftOff Residency takes place at NDA’s Studio in TriBeCa and provides three physical-based performance artists with a minimum of 36 hours of rehearsal space each, free of charge. Fall LiftOff artists have access to book the studio from October – December, with hours offered Monday through Friday from 10am-6pm.
LiftOff Artists are invited to participate in in-person and Zoom Work Sessions. Sharing creative process, project development, and community exchange on the last Monday of every month from 6pm-9pm.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the residency is only available for solo artists, or groups up to three artists. All artists must be fully vaccinated by the start of their residency. More studio regulations can be found here.
New Dance Alliance continues to support artists with free opportunities throughout the pandemic. If you are able, please consider making a donation to support the development and endurance of NDA’s Satellite, LiftOff, Black Artists Space to Create Residencies, and Performance Mix Festival. If you are able, please consider making a donation to support the continuation and development of our programs.
This year’s festival was truly one to remember. Wonderful installations from Dana Michel and Tracy Maurice, as well as Sari Nordman’s Tower. Andrew Tay presented an ingenious live-stream performance. It was inspiring and warming to see artists performing live again, including Seattle’s Degenerate Art Ensemble! We were supported in so many ways — by our energized and celebratory audiences, our funders, the Leadership Circle, Friends of NDA, Kickstarter pledges and through volunteers and in-kind donations.
Any amount helps! Donations make a huge difference in our ability to continue programming amazing artists like the ones featured in this year’s Performance Mix Festival.
“Thank you thank you and thank you to everyone who made this residency (Black Artist Space to Create) possible. These past two weeks have been a blessing! Not only have I been able to deepen my own personal/artistic practices, I was given the space to connect with people that I love! I was given space to reflect on love, and to prepare for what this next year (2021) will bring! Shout out to New Dance Alliance, Modern Accord Depot and Angie Pittman for the time, the space, and opportunity! I am forever grateful! It felt like a good meal, with dessert!”
